[Adam had been running for a while, though with the constant landscape of green he didn’t feel like he’d actually gotten anywhere. Already in a panic state, suddenly he’s being accosted by some guy - does he recognise him? He’s seen almost everyone around, at some point - and his tone is enough to make him leap back, startled.]

Shit, man -

[But this guy seems powerful, if not kind of terrifying.]

You gotta help me. Something’s up with Night Sky - you know Night Sky?

[Arrakis was friendly to everyone here in Somnius so Adam had probably seen him around even if they hadn't been properly introduced. However there was no sign of that friendliness in the mage before Adam right now. He magically sensed his surroundings rather than see them when he fully embraced his magic like this and he didn't recognize Adam's voice.

What he said was more important and his glowing eyes narrowed as they burned brighter.]

Where is she?

[Jesus, that’s terrifying.]

…You’re not going to hurt her, are you?

[The intense glow of his eyes softened with a hesitant flicker.]

Night Sky will be the one hurt if she harms anyone else.

[The glow of his eyes sharpened again as he continued, the rage clear in his voice.]

Would you let the Green Knight use someone you love as a weapon?

What?! No, fuck no!

[His defensiveness, mixed with his palpable fear, combines to make a very pathetic display.]

There’s gotta be some other way of snapping her out of it! Some - some kind of spell, or something.

[He doesn’t know anything about the situation, and it’s evident. Still, he wants to believe.]

[There was something about the way Adam still wanted to believe despite how helpless he was that made Arrakis hesitate. Deep down he didn't want to hurt Night Sky either and his eyes dimmed with a uncertain flicker.

That naive thinking was dangerous though and his eyes sharply sparked brighter as he tried to shake the thought from his mind.]

Even if there is, how many people will she hurt while we try to find it? You were running from her weren't you?

Yeah, but -

[He reaches for some kind of answer. There isn’t one.]

Can’t you guys hold her off whilst someone tries to find something? You’re powerful, right?

[What’s the point of all this magic if it can’t save her?]

[The question echoed painfully in Arrakis's soul and his eyes instantly flared brighter as his expression twisted into a look of anguish. He opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. When he finally found his voice it was raw with guilt.]

It's not enough.

[It never was and the violent flickering of his eyes steadied as he ran away from that awful truth and locked his heart behind his resolve as a mage. His voice sounded cold when he spoke again.]

I'll do what I can. Now where is she?

[His questions sounded harsher this time. He didn't have time for this.]

[Adam seems defeated. He points towards the forest almost dismissively.]

Somewhere in there.

[Arrakis turned to leave as soon as Adam showed him which direction but something made him stop. The fierce glow in his eyes softened as he turned back to him.]

I can take you somewhere safe first if you want.

[He wouldn't blame Adam if he wanted nothing more to do with him. It's why he didn't give him his name. Still, if stopping Night Sky kept her from harming anyone else then Arrakis would gladly take those consequences. It wouldn't be the first time he had blood on his hands. Better him than Night Sky.]

[He does consider it.]

…No, it’s fine.

[He finds it easy to dismiss his offer, even though he’s rather scared shitless right now.]

She needs you more.

[Arrakis wouldn't argue with that and his windy dragon rushed past him.]

Find somewhere safe then.

[With that last word of warning he ran alongside the dragon and used the wind's momentum to leap into the air and disappear into the sky.]
